February 27, 2017

Dear Sir/Madam,

The purpose of this letter is to formally invite you to an once-in-a-lifetime charity event that supports Adopt a Loo Program.

The theme of the benefit is For a Kenyan child: A funds drive event to support build toilets for our children in public schools. The event will take place on April 15th, 2017 at 8:00AM till dawn at Sports Club Nakuru.

This eclectic event will host family fun day, African dance, keynote speakers, music, and other artistic celebrations of the African spirit. The performances will be followed by a silent wine auction and wine tasting held at the same place. Accouterments will be served and there will be live music during the community social hour. Additionally, there will be modeling and fashion show as we crown Miss Contrite L’ AfriQueen.

We anticipate over 500 people in attendance during the night, of the benefit including prominent figures from the county, aspirant, as well as senior government representatives. Your role in this community as a pioneer for social justice is iconic and we would be honored to have you in attendance at our event.

Our community is very socially conscious and compassionate towards serving children. It’s of this notion that Adopt a Loo Program seeks to empower underprivileged children by ensuring they have good sanitation and free from germs which leads to diseases such as diarrhea and hence absenteeism from schools. Our intention is to raise awareness for the plight of our children and we are eager for you to join us.

Please buy a ticket or two in support of our noble course. You can pay using till number…

It Is Good To do Good

One Good Deed Per Day

One Good DeedIn our country, where life can  be very hard, there is a temptation to become hard to the suffering of others.  It is not because we want to be cruel, it is just that we have so many problems of our own that we cannot bear to add even one more to our backs.

My personal belief is that it is always good to do good.  Every time I am kind to someone, speak an encouraging word to someone, or help someone who is helpless, I know that, even if I do not see an immediate reward, my heavenly Father is pleased.

I know, with all the problems we face, we can sometimes think that God has forgotten us.  Feeling all alone we are tempted to take matters into our own hands and do whatever it takes to get the things we need or want.  I understand this temptation but I know, from personal experience, that if we resist the temptation to become harsh to those around us that God will see our good deeds done in secret and reward us openly.

There was a time when I was very, very poor.  People looked at me as someone who would never be anything.  I would work for people in their shambas and sometimes they would treat me unfairly.  Even though they looked down on me, seeing me as nothing, I still did the best job I could.

Today, now that I am living in the city those people that looked down on me still live in their home area.  Some have fallen on very hard times.   When I visit my village I greet them and don’t look down on them or treat them harshly.  I do this because I remember how I felt when I struggled and I do not ever want to do that to someone.

People talk to me, when I visit the village, and ask what my secret is. They want to know how they can escape the hardships that they face too.  I just say, trust God and do good.  Some stare at me as if I am lying to them, but to tell the truth, we cannot lift our burdens but when we do good to others our Father sees in heaven and lifts our burdens for us.

It is good to do good.  It does not have to be a big good.  A lot of little good’s add up over time to a habit of doing good that blesses many. We are all capable of doing good if we will only believe that God is watching and He will reward us in His time.

My brothers and sisters,  if each one of us does even a little good, think of what that could mean for everyone!  If we simply let ourselves love each other enough to do even one good deed each day, that would be millions of good deeds!  Think of what a differences that would make in our country.  Think of how that could start to heal our land.

The best thing about doing good is that it encourages others to do good too.  Doing good is a gift that people take and then they re-give it to others.   I encourage you to give the gift of “good”  to someone you know today.

God bless,

Lilian
