The Need and The Idea
1. Toilet Cleaning and Restroom Sanitation
Our company changes dirty toilets and bathrooms into clean and sanitary restrooms so that your children cam use a fresh and hygienic facility. We scrub, remove stains, wash, disinfect and freshen school loos at an affordable price.
2. Prevention of Diseases and Early Child Death
As we know, many early childhood deaths result from outbreak of diseases like cholera and Amebiasis and these illnesses can be largely prevented through proper sanitation. Our government is doing good by providing free primary education and our ministry of health is trying to educate people about the positive effects of hand washing. In addition to these efforts God revealed to me that we should also consider the proper sanitation of toilets.
During the last election day I went to vote at a primary school and after standing in the line for 8 hours I had to go to the bathroom. The stench was so horrible and there were feces everywhere. Since there was no other choice I braved it and went in but looked at my feet, and to my horror, they were full of maggots. I screamed and ran, half naked, out of that filthy place as fast as I could.
After that awful experience I became determined to do something positive to bring about a real change. I thought to myself, my God, this is where our children have to go every day? No wonder they always come home sick. We forget about the loos our children must use and many times we do not even know if they have clean tap water or soap to wash their hands with after using these types of toilets.
I decided to form a company to take care of this problem. Our company cleans and freshens school toilets for the children of our nation so that that we will never lose our precious sons and daughters to preventable illnesses. I lost my baby girl of two and a half years to cholera so I know the pain that such filth can cause.
3. Raising funds for Orphans to pay School Fees
Our company sets aside 10% of our profits to help orphans and other needy child pay for school expenses. I have taken care of orphans with my own resources for over 10 years and I know how important it is for these kids to have someone who will support their education.
I also know what is like for a parent to lack school fees. My own son is a class behind coz when he was in nursery I couldn’t raise 20 Kenyan shillings to pay a school test fee because by then I was a widow. I begged everyone I knew to help but no would help. That day I prayed and told God in a covenant that if He will bless me I will serve Him by giving to others in need and I have been faithful in the little so I know I will be faithful in much because this is my desire. I want to be able to go to a school, ask the teacher to give me the fee balance of an orphan, pay it, and see the child smile and work hard trusting God for more…this gives me pleasure!
4. Job Creation
Currently, in our country, there are many youths, women, and elderly men who do not have jobs but are eager to work and earn an income. Some people have went to school and some didn’t but they all need honest jobs. Providing jobs for such people will help reduce the crime rate for our communities and citizens will not feel forced to commit crimes or turn to prostitution to provide for their basic needs.
5. Education and Public Awareness
Every job has its ups and down and this will be no different. There are hurdles we will face as we prepare to meet the challenges of this profession. In our society many people don’t want to think about the toilet subject and look down on anyone who wants to do it. Our challenge will be to educate everyone as to the benefits of proper sanitation and to create a positive image of the loo. Through small seminars we help school faculty, parents, and children realize how vital an area this is and how it can help to cut down on student absence and raise overall test scores.
ADOPT – A – LOO
People from all over the world have been adopting humans, animals, and even lights on the streets. They do this because it is a easy and accessible way to make a difference in a meaningful way. Likewise, businesses and individuals can adopt a loo in a school and make a difference in the lives of children by helping to protect their health through proper sanitation.
Through adopting a loo at a school for as little as 3000 shillings per month (approximately 35 US dollars) you can help share the costs of cleaning and sanitation services for school children. In addition, you will help to provide employment for those in need of a job. Together we can give help prevent childhood diseases and give our children a better start in life.
Ways you can help
1. Donors can help build or renovate toilets in public schools. Constructions costs usually start at a cost of 500,000 shillings (~ 6000 US) and up depending on the size and complexity of the project. We build our loos to last and make them easy to clean and maintain.
2. Alternately, donors can also help by meeting all or part of the cost of cleaning and maintaining a school toilet for one year. This ranges between 5000 to 10,000 shillings per month (60 to 125 US) depending on the size of the toilet facility and its location. Some toilets in the the bigger schools are quite large.
3. Donors can also choose to help fund micro-hygienic seminars in schools to teach proper hand washing and other aspects of hygiene. These training sessions range between 10,000 to 30,000 shillings ( 125 to 400 US) per seminar depending on the size of the school and its location.
4. Lastly you can contribute any amount to our operations fund. We are seeking 250,000 shillings ( ~ 3000 US) to maintain our van, buy needed sanitation supplies, and train more sanitation workers for 2015.
Business Structure.
We have the strong team and we are adaptable and willing to try new things. Our team, which I have been working with for the last two years, is disciplined and able to follow instructions. For example, when I call them to help put on a demonstration they will come, no matter how far it is, and participate, if necessary, even without pay.
I trust my team to always have the best of intention towards the project. They also trust me totally and respect the wisdom and inspiration God gives me. We believe in being accountable and therefore everything is done property and above board. We use receipts and keep our accounts and books straight.
We are holistic organization who values doing things right as a group. We are saved and, as Christians, do our very best to walk with integrity. We teach cleanliness according to godly principles with an aim to help our nation be a cleaner, healthy place to live
Our Core Principles Are:
- Humility
- Discipline

In Conclusion,
You can help make a big difference in the quality of a child’s life and education by adopting your own loo. I invite you or your company to join with me in helping children become happy, productive members of our society through simple, practical sanitation. Together we can can provide clean toilets, for healthy children, to build a strong Kenya!
